One of the most beautiful cities to explore in Canada, Calgary has scenic views of foothills, mountains, and more. But you may be surprised at all of the opportunities and activities that Calgary has to offer, as well. We’ve created a list of some of the most popular places to visit while in this spectacular city.
Calgary Zoo
Alberta’s oldest registered charity, this zoo is operated by an independent not-for-profit organization, the Calgary Zoological Society. Visitors from all over come to visit over 1,000 animals that the zoo exhibits. The visitors aren’t the only ones from near and far.
With more than 272 different species located on the 120-acre zoo, it’s without question why this is Canada’s most visited zoo.
Calgary Tower
A 190.8 meter free standing observation tower can be found right in downtown Calgary. Being the tallest structure in Calgary and in Canada outside of Toronto, tourists flock here to get a bird’s-eye view of the city.
Heritage Park Historical Village
This one is for the history buffs or those looking to catch a glimpse of Canada’s history. This historical park stretches over 127 acres along the banks of the Glenmore Reservoir. The special part about this museum is that it is a living museum meaning all of the staff are dressed in historic costume and there are antique automobiles and horse-drawn vehicles all in service at the park.
WinSport
Calgary’s very own Winter Sport Institute offers many winter and summer activities including skiing, snowtubing, hockey, skating, mountain biking, and more. They offer numerous outdoor summer camps in a variety of different sports. Not only is WinSport a top-notch sporting facility but you can also catch live entertainment here, too.
TELUS Spark
A perfect place for the entire family to enjoy interactive exhibits, presentations, and learn a bit more about science. This hands on experience is a great way to spend a rainy day or when looking for something different to enjoy.
Calaway Park
Now this attraction can best be enjoyed on a sunny day. Mostly due to the fact that it hosts more than 30 amusement rides including a few roller coasters. Calaway Park is western Canada’s largest amusement park and you also have the opportunity to camp here, as well.
If you’re looking for a multitude of activities to do, Calgary has you covered. While we have only covered a handful of places to visit, you may find yourself wishing you had a bit more time to spend here. Check out Calgary homes for sale and you won’t find yourself needing to leave next time.
